Health coaching is a process to help you make lasting, sustainable changes in your health and well-being. It is a collaboration between you and the coach: you have expertise in your life and circumstances, and the coach has expertise as a facilitator- with the goal of getting you to your best health and wellness.
Coaching utilizes your strengths and core values; empowers you to find your own unique solutions; supports you in your change journey; recognizes and connects you to your motivations and wisdom; and provides accountability to you as desired for the changes you’re making.
A health coach is a friend, mentor, teacher, advocate, and translator all packaged into one beautiful wellness partner. A health coach is an educated guide who helps others to achieve the highest level of health and happiness possible for them.
Health coaches work with diet, nutrition, lifestyle, and other healing practices that help to bring others into mind/body balance. The beauty of this work is there’s virtually no limit to what you can create in this journey of helping others.
What is an ADAPT Health Coach?
The ADAPT Academy is specifically geared toward training health coaches who have knowledge of the fundamentals of functional medicine. Functional medicine is an approach to health care that focuses on identifying the root causes of illness and of working to treat and prevent root causes. ADAPT was created by Chris Kresser, founder of one of the most respected natural-health sites in the world, Chris Kresser.com. He is widely known for his in-depth research uncovering myths and misconceptions in modern medicine and providing natural-health solutions with proven results.
ADAPT is accredited by the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching and is a one-year rigiourous certification course taught by a team of outstanding highly accredited professionals in the fields of motivational interviewing, psychology, conflict resolution, business development, and functional health.
While a health coach is not trained to diagnose or treat illness, a functional health coach can work alongside a functional medicine practitioner to aid clients in implementing recommended lifestyle strategies for treating and preventing illness and disease.
